Editorial Policy

Chesapeake Cast publishes explanatory articles about fishing literacy, waterside observation and thoughtful trip planning on the Chesapeake Bay. Our editorial policy is built on a few clear commitments.

First, we separate observation from instruction. We may explain how salinity gradients, dissolved oxygen, tides or barotrauma work, and we may suggest questions a reader can ask. We do not invent fishing rules, limits, season dates or current prices. When rules matter, we link to official agency pages and tell readers to confirm current regulations themselves.

Second, we avoid fake experience. We do not claim charter operations, captain identity or old contact details. We do not pretend to have measured keyword volumes or performed search engine research. Our article ideas come from reader questions and public source material, not from claimed proprietary data.

Third, we label images honestly. Illustrations, diagrams and synthetic images are editorial aids. They explain a concept and are not photographic records of a specific trip, catch or location unless a page explicitly says so.

Fourth, we keep scope safe. We do not give medical advice or prescriptive gas, electrical or structural installation procedures. Planning, materials, comparisons and visual literacy are appropriate topics.

Fifth, we correct errors. A correction request should identify the article and provide supporting evidence from an official or public source. We update material when the evidence warrants it.

Our voice is precise, approachable and concrete. We prefer verifiable detail over drama, and we treat the Bay as a system to understand rather than a backdrop for promises.
